This 8-day Valley of Roses trek begins in Marrakesh and takes you across the High Atlas Mountains towards Kelaat M’Gouna, Morocco’s famous “capital of roses.” From the village of Aït Youl, the trek follows scenic trails through gardens, terraced farmland, ancient kasbahs, traditional irrigation channels, and Berber villages before reaching the higher plateaus overlooking the M’Goun Mountains. The route then descends through lush valley landscapes filled with walnut and almond trees, orchards, rose bushes, and palm-filled oases before finishing in Kelaat M’Gouna. After visiting a local rose-products cooperative, return to Marrakesh through the Dades Valley and Ouarzazate.

This 8-day trekking adventure takes you through one of southern Morocco’s most beautiful and culturally rich valleys, where lush gardens, rose fields, traditional kasbahs, and Berber villages contrast dramatically with the rugged mountains of the High Atlas. You’ll walk along ancient irrigation channels, cross terraced fields and peaceful oases, meet local communities, and enjoy spectacular views of the M’Goun Mountains. With comfortable nights in traditional gîtes and selected bivouacs, luggage transported by mules, and a visit to a local rose-products cooperative, this trek offers a relaxed way to discover rural Morocco while experiencing the landscapes and traditions of the Valley of Roses.
Your Valley of Roses adventure begins with your arrival in Marrakesh. You will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your riad or hotel. After settling in, enjoy some free time to discover the Medina, explore its lively streets, or simply relax before your trekking adventure begins. The evening is free for you to enjoy dinner at your own pace.

Leave Marrakesh in the morning and travel across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Continue towards Ouarzazate before reaching Kelaat M’Gouna, the famous capital of Morocco’s rose-growing region. From here, take a short transfer towards the village of Aït Youl, where you’ll meet your local muleteer team and prepare for the trek ahead. Settle into a traditional mountain gîte and enjoy your first evening surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Valley of Roses.

Today marks the beginning of your trek into the Jbel Siroua massif. From Aït Tigga, follow mountain paths through traditional Berber villages and cultivated terraces before gradually climbing towards the high-altitude pastures.
As the landscape becomes more remote, you’ll begin to see the dramatic volcanic character of the region. Continue towards Azib Iriri, where the team will establish the mountain bivouac for the night. Enjoy an evening beneath the open sky, surrounded by the silence of the mountains.

Today marks the beginning of your trek through the Valley of Roses. Follow peaceful trails through lush gardens, cultivated terraces, and traditional kasbahs while discovering the agricultural landscapes that sustain the villages of the valley. Along the way, you’ll see traditional irrigation channels that have been used for generations to bring water to the fields. Stop for lunch beneath the shade of the poplar trees before continuing towards Boutaghrar, where you’ll spend the night in a gîte or mountain bivouac.

Continue your journey through the Valley of Roses as the trail gradually climbs towards the higher plateaus overlooking the valley. The change in elevation opens up spectacular panoramic views across the surrounding mountains, including the impressive landscapes of the M’Goun massif. Continue through traditional Berber villages and remote mountain landscapes before reaching your accommodation for the evening.

Today the route gradually descends towards the greener landscapes of the valley. Walk through gardens, palm-filled areas, orchards, and traditional agricultural terraces surrounded by walnut and almond trees. During spring, the rose bushes add vibrant color and fragrance to the landscape. Along the way, meet local inhabitants and discover the rhythm of everyday life in the villages before continuing towards Hdida for the night.

After breakfast, leave the Valley of Roses behind and begin the return journey to Marrakesh. Travel through the spectacular Dades Valley, with its dramatic cliffs, kasbahs, and oasis landscapes, before continuing towards Ouarzazate. From there, cross the High Atlas Mountains once again and arrive in Marrakesh in the late afternoon. Enjoy a free evening and a final night in the city.
