Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakesh as you travel through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest mountain pass in Morocco. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, traditional Berber villages, and stunning mountain scenery. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous fortified village, where countless international films and television series have been filmed. After exploring this historic kasbah, travel through Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” before continuing along the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the beautiful Dades Valley. Surrounded by dramatic rock formations and peaceful mountain landscapes, you’ll enjoy dinner and spend your first night in a comfortable hotel.
Overnight: Dades Valley
After breakfast, continue your journey through southern Morocco as you make your way towards the breathtaking Todra Gorge. Towering limestone cliffs rising over 300 meters create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural wonders and offer the perfect place for a relaxing walk. From here, travel through traditional Berber villages and the fossil town of Erfoud before arriving at the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga. As the afternoon light begins to soften, leave your vehicle behind and enjoy an unforgettable camel trek across the golden sands of the Sahara Desert. Wake early to witness one of the most spectacular sunrises over the Sahara Desert before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Today is dedicated to discovering the hidden treasures surrounding Merzouga. Visit a traditional nomadic family to learn about their unique desert lifestyle before continuing to the village of Khamlia, famous for its spiritual Gnawa music and rich cultural heritage. Explore nearby desert landscapes, ancient fossil sites, and peaceful oasis villages while taking in the incredible beauty of the region. The remainder of the day offers time to relax, capture unforgettable photographs, or simply enjoy the tranquility of the Sahara before returning to your accommodation for another memorable evening.
Overnight: Hotel in Merzouga
After breakfast, begin your journey back towards western Morocco, passing through the historic town of Rissani, once an important trading center for caravans crossing the Sahara. Continue through the dramatic desert landscapes of Alnif and the picturesque oasis village of Nkob, famous for its traditional mud-brick kasbahs and palm groves. As you travel through the breathtaking Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, admire endless palm plantations and authentic Berber villages before arriving in Ouarzazate, where you’ll enjoy dinner and relax after another day filled with incredible scenery.
Overnight: Ouarzazate
Following breakfast, begin your return journey to Marrakesh. Before leaving Ouarzazate, you’ll have another opportunity to admire the surrounding landscapes as you travel back through Ait Ben Haddou and the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy several scenic stops along the way to capture memorable photographs and appreciate the spectacular mountain views before arriving back in Marrakesh during the late afternoon.
