From there, cross the Middle Atlas through Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou before reaching the Sahara Desert and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a camel trek and desert camp experience, continue through Rissani, the Todra Gorges, and the Dades Valley before crossing the Valley of Roses and Skoura oasis towards Ouarzazate and the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This 6-day journey brings together some of Morocco’s most iconic landscapes, cities, and cultural experiences in one carefully designed route from Casablanca to Marrakesh. Explore the blue streets of Chefchaouen, discover the ancient medina of Fes with a local guide, cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and cedar forests, and journey deep into the Sahara to experience a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. From a night beneath the stars to the dramatic Todra and Dades Gorges, historic kasbahs, and the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, this tour gives you an incredible introduction to Morocco’s imperial heritage, mountain landscapes, desert culture, and southern valleys.
Your Moroccan adventure begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Casablanca. Travel north along the Atlantic coast towards Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its historic imperial cities. Explore the atmospheric Oudaya Kasbah overlooking the Atlantic before continuing to the Hassan Tower and the nearby Mausoleum. Continue your sightseeing with the Royal Palace area and the historic Chellah before leaving Rabat behind. The journey then heads north through the countryside and into the Rif Mountains. As the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous, you’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-washed buildings and peaceful mountain setting. After checking into your accommodation, enjoy some free time to wander through the medina and discover the city’s distinctive streets and atmosphere.

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Chefchaouen, giving you time to explore its beautiful blue streets at your own pace, photograph the medina, browse local shops, or enjoy a coffee surrounded by the Rif Mountains. Later, depart towards Fes, travelling through the scenic landscapes of northern Morocco. Upon arrival, settle into your riad in or near the historic old city. The evening is free to relax or take an initial stroll through the surroundings of the ancient medina.

Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, one of Morocco’s most important cultural and historic cities. With a local guide, explore the ancient streets of Fes el-Bali and enter through the famous Bab Boujloud, the Blue Gate. Continue through the medina to discover the historic Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and university, the beautiful Bou Inania Madrasa, traditional souks, and the city’s famous artisan quarters. Visit the historic leather tanneries and see traditional crafts that have been practiced in Fes for generations. Your guide will also introduce you to lesser-known corners of the medina and help you experience the city’s rich cultural heritage beyond its main landmarks.

Leave Fes early and begin the long but spectacular journey south towards the Sahara. Your first stop is Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, and mountain atmosphere. Continue towards the cedar forests around Azrou, where you may encounter Barbary macaques living among the trees. Continue through the Middle Atlas towards Midelt, known for its apple production, before following the dramatic landscapes of the Ziz Valley towards Er-Rachidia. The route then continues through the Ziz Oasis and palm-filled landscapes before reaching Erfoud, famous for its fossils and geological heritage. Finally, arrive at the golden Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga. From here, begin your camel trek across the dunes as the sun sets over the Sahara. Reach your desert camp in the evening, enjoy a traditional dinner, listen to Berber music around the campfire, and spend the night beneath the stars.

Desert Experience: Sunset camel trek
Wake early for the possibility of watching the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before breakfast. After enjoying the desert morning, leave Merzouga and travel towards Rissani, one of the historic trading towns of southern Morocco. Explore the local souks and experience the atmosphere of this traditional desert market town before continuing towards Tinghir. From there, enter the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering limestone cliffs rise dramatically above the valley. Take time to walk through the gorge and appreciate its immense scale before continuing along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. The route leads into the Dades Valley, where green fields, fig and walnut trees, traditional villages, and dramatic rock formations create a striking contrast with the Sahara you have just left behind.

Your final day takes you through some of southern Morocco’s most scenic landscapes before reaching Marrakesh. Leave the Dades Valley and travel through the Valley of Roses, continuing towards the Skoura oasis with its palm groves and historic kasbahs. Stop to discover Amridil Kasbah, one of the region’s most impressive traditional fortified buildings, before continuing to Ouarzazate, often known as Morocco’s Cinema Capital. From here, visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most recognizable historic settlements. After exploring the ancient earthen architecture, continue across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres. Descend towards Marrakesh, where your six-day journey ends with drop-off at your accommodation or Marrakesh Menara Airport.
