Starting in Marrakesh, the trek takes you to Imlil, the gateway to the Toubkal massif, before climbing to the 4,167-metre summit of Jbel Toubkal, where breathtaking views stretch across the High Atlas and southern plains of Morocco. After the summit, continue through the beautiful Azzaden Valley, crossing mountain passes and following scenic trails between traditional villages, terraced fields, and walnut groves. With nights spent in a mountain refuge, traditional gîtes, and a riad in Marrakesh, this adventure combines challenging trekking, local culture, and some of Morocco’s most spectacular mountain scenery.

This 8-day adventure combines the challenge of climbing Jbel Toubkal at 4,167 metres, the highest peak in Morocco and North Africa, with an authentic journey through the villages and valleys of the High Atlas. From the mountain trails around Imlil to the dramatic landscapes of Azzaden Valley, you’ll experience spectacular scenery, traditional Berber hospitality, and peaceful mountain communities along the way. The trek combines nights in a mountain refuge, traditional guesthouses, and a riad in Marrakesh, making it an ideal adventure for active travelers looking to experience the High Atlas while reaching one of North Africa’s most iconic summits.
Your Toubkal adventure begins with your arrival in Marrakesh. You’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your riad, where you can settle in and relax after your journey. If time allows, enjoy a first walk through the Medina and experience the atmosphere of the Red City before your mountain adventure begins. The evening is free, with dinner at your own leisure.

After breakfast, leave Marrakesh and drive for approximately 1.5 hours towards Imlil, the main gateway to the Toubkal region. Here you’ll meet your mountain guide, muleteers, and mule team before beginning the trek.
Follow the trail through Aremd, surrounded by terraced fields and traditional Berber homes, before continuing towards Sidi Chamharouch, a small mountain settlement where you’ll stop for lunch. After the break, continue climbing through increasingly dramatic High Atlas landscapes until reaching the Toubkal Refuge at 3,207 metres, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night preparing for the summit ascent.

Today is the highlight of your adventure. You’ll wake before sunrise and begin the ascent towards the summit of Jbel Toubkal at 4,167 metres. The trail climbs steadily through rugged mountain terrain as the first light begins to appear across the High Atlas.
After reaching the summit, take time to enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the surrounding peaks and the plains of southern Morocco. After celebrating the achievement and taking in the scenery, begin the descent back to the refuge, where you’ll enjoy dinner and a well-earned night’s rest.

Leave the refuge behind and descend towards the beautiful Azzaden Valley. The trail takes you through dramatic mountain scenery before reaching the Tizi Mzik Pass at 2,489 metres, offering impressive views across the surrounding valleys and peaks.
Continue towards Aït Souka, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional local gîte. This is a wonderful opportunity to slow down after the summit and experience the hospitality and daily life of the High Atlas communities.

Walking: Approximately 6–7 hours
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the peaceful landscapes of the High Atlas. Walk between traditional Berber villages, terraced fields, walnut trees, and mountain trails while enjoying the changing scenery around the valley.
Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to meet local residents and experience the authentic atmosphere of mountain life. Continue towards Id Issa, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional gîte.

Walking: Approximately 5 hours
Continue your trek through the High Atlas, crossing mountain passes and following panoramic trails back towards Imlil. The landscape offers beautiful views across valleys, villages, and surrounding peaks as you gradually complete your trekking circuit.
Upon arrival in Imlil, settle into your guesthouse and enjoy a relaxing evening after several days on the mountain trails.

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Imlil after your trekking adventure. Take some time to explore the village, enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery, or simply rest before your return journey.
Later, transfer back to Marrakesh and settle into your riad. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the city, explore the Medina, or do some final shopping before your departure.
