Starting in Marrakesh, the journey takes you towards Taliouine, Morocco’s renowned saffron-growing region, before entering the remote landscapes of Jbel Siroua. Trek through cultivated terraces, high mountain pastures, dramatic basalt formations, and traditional villages while spending nights in mountain gîtes and remote bivouacs. The highlight of the adventure is the ascent of Jbel Siroua at 3,304 metres, offering panoramic views across the High Atlas, Anti-Atlas, and Souss plains.

You’ll cross dramatic volcanic landscapes, walk through remote Berber villages, discover the famous saffron-growing region of Taliouine, and spend peaceful nights in mountain gîtes and remote bivouacs. The highlight is reaching the 3,304-metre summit of Jbel Siroua, where spectacular views stretch across the High Atlas, Anti-Atlas, and Souss plains. With local guides and muleteers accompanying you throughout the trek, this is an ideal adventure for travelers looking for nature, authentic mountain life, and a quieter alternative to the more popular Toubkal trails.
Your Jbel Siroua adventure begins with your arrival in Marrakesh, where you will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your traditional riad in the heart of the city. After settling in, enjoy some free time to relax or take your first walk through the atmospheric streets of the Medina. Spend the evening at leisure before your mountain adventure begins the following day.

Leave Marrakesh behind and travel south towards Taliouine, the heart of Morocco’s famous saffron-growing region. Along the way, enjoy changing landscapes as the road leads from the city towards the mountains and valleys of southern Morocco. Depending on the season, stop at a local saffron cooperative to discover how this precious spice is cultivated and processed.
Continue towards the remote village of Aït Tigga, where you will meet your local muleteer team and prepare for the trek ahead. Settle into a traditional mountain gîte and enjoy your first evening surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Siroua region.

Today marks the beginning of your trek into the Jbel Siroua massif. From Aït Tigga, follow mountain paths through traditional Berber villages and cultivated terraces before gradually climbing towards the high-altitude pastures.
As the landscape becomes more remote, you’ll begin to see the dramatic volcanic character of the region. Continue towards Azib Iriri, where the team will establish the mountain bivouac for the night. Enjoy an evening beneath the open sky, surrounded by the silence of the mountains.

Continue deeper into the Siroua massif as the landscape changes into vast volcanic plateaus. The trail crosses rugged terrain surrounded by dark volcanic rocks, basalt formations, and distinctive rocky peaks that reveal the area’s ancient geological origins.
Gradually make your way towards the Siroua refuge area, where you’ll spend the night either in the refuge or at a nearby bivouac. With very little light pollution, the evening offers an excellent opportunity to experience the clear mountain sky.

An early start begins the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Follow the mountain trail towards the summit of Jbel Siroua, reaching an altitude of 3,304 metres.
From the summit, take time to appreciate the extraordinary panorama stretching across the High Atlas, Anti-Atlas, and Souss plains. After enjoying the summit, begin the descent back towards the mountain camp, following the rugged volcanic terrain through the afternoon.
This is the physical highlight of the trek and a memorable opportunity to stand on the summit of an ancient Moroccan volcano.

Walking: Approximately 7–8 hours
Elevation: +700 m / -700 m
After the summit adventure, begin your descent towards the lower mountain villages. The landscape gradually changes as you leave the high volcanic plateaus behind and return towards traditional settlements and cultivated areas.
Along the way, meet local inhabitants and experience the welcoming atmosphere of the Berber communities that live throughout the Siroua region. Continue towards Tamazirt, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional mountain gîte.

Walking: Approximately 5–6 hours
After breakfast, complete the final stage of your trek before returning towards Taliouine. From here, begin the journey back to Marrakesh, watching the landscape change once again as you leave the Siroua mountains behind.
Arrive in Marrakesh and settle back into your riad. Enjoy a well-deserved evening at leisure after your mountain adventure.
